The Jones & Horan Auction Team had an amazing time at the NAWCC National Convention in Kentucky last week. We soaked up the local culture; experienced some of the finest BBQ and bourbon in the world; and had a blast chatting and trading with new and repeat enthusiasts. But as always, the show must go on – that's why our Operations Team was hard at work launching another online auction for everyone to bid on. Our Star Wheels & Geneva Stripes online auction opened for bids on June 25 and runs through July 2. Our experts curated a wonderful selection of horological treasures spread across 103 pocket watch lots, 43 wristwatch lots, 22 coin lots, and 32 jewelry & collectible lots. Kick off the long holiday weekend with buying yourself a new-to-you gem, some nearly as old as the United States itself!

Top Picks from Tyler St. Gelais, Head of Wristwatches & Jewelry

Lot 86 | Heuer 3000 chronograph, ref 237.406, quartz This Heuer 3000 series chronograph diver delivers a bold look with unmistakable '80s styling that was oversized for the time, but perfect for modern tastes. This example, in beautiful collector's condition, epitomizes the excess of the time with an opulent black-on-gold colorway with chunky, black-plated bezel, and original champagne dial. The gold and black plating has remained clean and intact for 40+ years, indicating light and careful wear of this model. The 25J cal 555.112 most likely needs a new battery to bring life to the movement. View Lot 86

Originally debuting in 2019, the Doxa Sub 200 model line is a reissue of the company's first dive watch. This model is more wearable than the thick and heavy Sub 300 models and is perfect for summer in its banana-yellow Divingstar colorway. The beautifully finished beads of rice bracelet is the most desirable way to outfit the Sub 200, perfect for collectors who like to swap between bracelet and their own straps. This Sub 200 includes its original boxes and paperwork and is in excellent condition.

For lovers of tool watches, an authentic patina on a black-plated coating just can't be topped. This Wakmann oozes cool with the type of wear collectors love on the case and matching, creamy fading to the lume that matches on the dial and hands. The custom green nylon strap it is currently mounted on allows you to attach the watch to a jacket or instrument panel, just like the tool it was intended to be. This example runs great but needs a little work to reindex one of the chronograph hands and would benefit from a new crystal. A little TLC will go a long way, and this could easily become a centerpiece in a military buff's watch collection.

Top Picks from Fred Hansen, Head of Pocket Watches

This isn't your standard Bunn Special. Featuring the incredibly rare and highly sought after fishscale damascene, it's part of a group of only approximately 320 models with this movement finishing. Although nowhere near as rare, the Montgomery dial with Gothic hour numerals helps round this out into a great package for collectors. Although this watch will tick briefly with a twist, it will need an overhaul to get back into good running order.

Lot 73 | Hamilton, 36S, 21J, lever marine chronometer

Pocket watch collectors who'd like to add diversity into their collections should take note of this rare Hamilton marine chronometer. This model in 36S had a limited production of only 970 units, all manufactured in a single production run with serial numbers ranging from 1260001 to 1260970. Data suggests that the first 500 movements were typically housed in silver cases for use as deck watches. In contrast, the remaining 470 movements, like the current example, featured gimbaled nickel tubs within mahogany boxes. These timepieces were sold from 1918 through as late as 1943 or so.
