DESCRIPTION: WW - Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner, ref 5508, circa 1962, 38mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case with bi-directional rotating bezel and fat chamfered lugs, original bezel and insert, stainless steel riveted Oyster bracelet signed rolex, original glossy black exclamation point dial has aged to a fabulous tropical color, 26J cal 1530, s#763380, triple signed, inside back ref 5508, internal date code "II.62" for second quarter of 1962 production, Swiss bracelet with a 3/63 date code and 80 end links. Truly a stunning example of the iconic rolex 5508 'Small Crown' Submariner, made even more special by its beautifully aged tropical dial. The warm, even patina hints at decades of natural aging, yet the dial retains its original gloss - giving it the rich, organic appearance of a stone dial. A true dream piece for any serious vintage tool watch collector.
DESCRIPTION: Mvt: Running, gasket crumbled upon opening and was removed for watch's safety, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, light plating loss at plate edges, hardly any oxide to steelwork; excellent dial with even surface crazing to finish most notably on the right side of the dial, retains its original super glossy finish; excellent Mercedes hands with light surface spotting; polished case shows very light wear with lug chamfers still strong and visible; bezel shows light wear with brass showing through in high wear areas as well as light pitting, lightly faded insert with light surface scratches; bracelet shows light wear, light stretch; rolex signed crown shows little wear, good threads; crystal shows very little wear; resealed for auction.
