All packages shipped according to our policies are fully insured and require a signature for delivery.

By bidding in our auctions, you are agreeing to our terms and policies, including our shipping policies, as outlined here. We are responsible for shipments while with agents for hire (such as FedEx) as long as the package is shipped according to our policy as outlined in the next two paragraphs. If a bidder requests in writing different shipping arrangements that do not follow our policy (often in attempt by the bidder to save on the cost of shipping), Jones & Horan is not responsible for the purchase once it is scanned into the possession of the carrier and the Jones & Horan return policy no longer applies and is void. (See below “If you request shipping different than our policy.”)

Packages valued over $500: We ship all packages valued over $500 via FedEx Express 2nd Day, signature required, fully insured. (Depending on the country, some FedEx packages are sent via FedEx “Economy” since the price difference is large, and the difference in day of delivery is often only two days.)

Packages valued at $500 or less: Packages valued at $500 or less will be shipped USPS Priority, fully insured, signature required.

Pickup in Person: Pickup may be made in person by appointment and payment may be made by cash or check at that time or arranged ahead of time, if you wish. Please call or email for more information.

Here's how to receive your purchase after payment is made:

IN-HOUSE SHIPPING: Unless otherwise indicated for incredibly large and/or heavy lots, in our ongoing effort to make auctions fun and easy for our friends and clients, shipping is accomplished in-house here at Jones & Horan! As indicated above, once payment is made, including the shipping charge on the invoice, packages will be shipped via FedEx or USPS depending on value, as indicated above. We always strive to ship as soon as possible after payment as received, usually within one (1) business day, except for weekends, U.S. holidays, or major weather events here in New Hampshire. A printout of your paid invoice will be included inside the package, unless you specifically instruct us otherwise before we ship.

ATTENTION NEW CUSTOMERS: Unvetted new clients should expect 4-week shipping delays unless references are provided or payment is made by wire transfer or Zelle.

How much will this cost within the United States? As an example, one pocket watch or wristwatch valued over $500 would cost between $30-55 to be shipped via FedEx Express 2nd day, depending on your location. The proximity of your address to ours here in New Hampshire, as well as whether FedEx considers you a “residential” address or not, factors into the cost they charge.

If you request shipping different than our policy: If you request for us to ship using USPS instead of FedEx in order to save some of the cost of shipping, we ask that all such requests be made in writing, such as in an email, before payment is made, and that you state that you “are accepting full responsibility and liability for the goods inside that package in case of damage or loss by the USPS.” If you are requesting USPS instead of FedEx and the package is valued more than $500, the Jones & Horan return policy no longer applies and is void. Jones & Horan is not responsible or liable for the package once it is scanned by the USPS, if the package is valued over $500. We strongly urge all winning bidders to accept shipping from FedEx for more expensive packages, based on our experience with both carriers. The USPS has lost packages multiple times in the past couple years, including an especially valuable one that was sent by Registered Mail. The USPS has also damaged packages and contents while packages were in their care.

UPGRADING TO FASTER SHIPPING: There are additional fees to upgrade to FedEx one day (overnight) shipping, especially if Saturday delivery is requested. Contact us before making payment to arrange for this upgrade. (The USPS no longer guarantees any sort of overnight shipping service.)

Buyer's Responsibility: It is your responsibility to tell us if you will be traveling or otherwise unable to sign for the delivery, or if you wish to have your purchase shipped to an address other than the one on your invoice. WE WILL ALWAYS SHIP TO THE ADDRESS ON OUR INVOICE UNLESS REQUESTED OTHERWISE BEFORE PAYMENT IS MADE OR IN A NOTE SUBMITTED WITH PAYMENT. If an oversight is made by the buyer and the package is sent to the address on the invoice but has to be returned to us, we will ask the buyer to pay the additional shipping cost to send the package to the new address.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: All international buyers will also incur a shipping fee to ship to their country. We do not charge more than what the shipper charges, whether FedEx or USPS, depending on the value of the package (see first paragraphs above.) PLEASE NOTE that Jones & Horan will not change the values on shipping statements for overseas Buyers; any statements generated by Jones & Horan will reflect the values achieved at the auction. If desired, we are also happy to ship to a location in the United States, but please let us know before making payment so we can adjust your invoice accordingly. We can also ship via DHL international upon request; your invoice will be updated to include the higher expense of shipping via DHL. (The cost is often nearly double the amount we pay through FedEx, but we do realize that DHL is more secure and reliable than FedEx in many countries.) Packages shipped via USPS internationally will be shipped in our own boxes, not USPS's own "priority" boxes.

*Large or heavy items that are not shipped in-house: In rare instance, incredibly large or heavy items will be the responsibility of the buyer and will be indicated as so in the lot description, but Jones & Horan will assist whenever possible. IN ORDER FOR JONES & HORAN TO RELEASE YOUR LARGE ITEM TO A THIRD PARTY SHIPPER, PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND COMPLETE OUR Authorized Release Form.

FedEx has a free tool on their website where you can create an account and specify things like where to leave packages, when to deliver, etc., including if you would like the package to be held at another site for you to pick up personally, such as a FedEx location, Walgreens, Target, etc.
