Mvt: Running, fair cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates were originally two-tone gilt and nickel finish but their gilt color has substantially faded to only a very subtle light two-tone hue remaining, some marring and surface pitting to area surrounding balance jewel setting, few small fine scratches, minor oxide to winding wheels, several mvt screws are non-gilt replacements; dial with large patched chip and associated surrounding fracture and hl at 12, two faint outer chapter hls at 4; fine to fair hands have oxide; modified case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, excellent engine turning and engraving detail with some mild reduction at shoulder; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good thick glass crystal with few very fine scratches.

APW - Waltham, Pennsylvania Special, 23J, Model 1892, 18S, heavy 14K gold B.W.C.Co. recase was originally a HC but has been modified to its present OF form via cutting of its front lid and insertion of a crystal, beautiful rear engraving detail including a dog at lower perimeter and a bird within shield, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, gilt mvt screws and regulator, s#14000015. Gross weight of assembled watch 93.3 dwt (145.1 g). An exceedingly rare watch in this 23 jewel version, the vast majority of Waltham "Pennsylvania Special" movements were 21 jewel and this is only the third example of the 23 jewel version that we have observed.
