Condition Report For Lot# 773:
Mvt: NR, very gummy, staff good, missing one hammer-tail end-piece, hour touch-piece loose in center, set up for slide repeat in current case but may have had slide or crank-pendant originally, related parts are absent, gongs between plates, light oxide over bright-work, fine original hands, dial loose in its setting ring, hls at 2 & 8, the secret signature amateurly scratched on at some later date but still quite a while ago, presumably to enhance authenticity; Breguet formed a partnership with Gide and ordered watches of various types to be sold and build up business after the Revolution; this was probably one of those; Breguet's early manufacture involved a fractional serial numbering system absent from this watch, but could have been on a cuvette, if there ever was any; there is always the possibility that the number of the fake secret signature did come from the original casing which bore such a number, and could be from the first series, but it is more likely the contract type; the true dial signature at 6 is exquisite
Estimate: $250 - $500
