GRO, good motion, balance out of flat, good musical function with tone projecting well only on a resonant surface, good repeat function, some mvt scratches, missing stop-works on music barrel; the most unique aspect of the watch is the English lever escapement embellishment, with capped escapement and unique safety system, where the safety pin rides off the fork on a projection, which circulates on the outside of the roller on one beat and then on the inside of the roller in a specially cut channel on the other; the balance cock is English, and there seem to be no other holes in the plates indicating any kind of custom retrofitting; it would seem that the escapement is some years later than the rest of the watch, so perhaps concealment of alteration was expertly performed, or this was a very precocious experiment; the thin gauge case shows light wear overall and the occasional ding, the dial is purpose made and definitively English; it is most likely that the entire fitting was done in the middle of the 19th century
