French high grade clock by Achille Brocot Paris with three mainsprings, ¼ chime Grand Sonnerie (Whittington Tune) on 8 silver alloy bells and gong for strike with fancy black marble dial with dial setting for chime, strike and marked on mvt in a star “C-2556” and in an oval “2556-730-15.5” in a cherry wood case with Father of Time brass insert, approximately 17”H. According to Britten’s book on clockmakers Brocot was a celebrated clockmaker in Paris (1817-1878).
