Arnold chronometer mvt in black painted mahogany case with RN porcelain dial, early Arnold reverse fusee movement marked "John Arnold & Son Inventit Et Fecit" with serial number illegible, detent removed, fine side lever English pointed tooth escapement conversion. Inside of case door has early hand-written paper that reads, "This clock contains an early example of a chronometer movement invented by a celebrated watch maker John Arnold, who shared with another celebrated watchmaker Earnshaw a large prize offered by the government for such an invention.
